Scottsdale Short Term Rental Regulations

In short, short-term rentals are currently legal in Scottsdale.

Dwellings and accessory guest houses must be rented together, and may not be rented independently. Maximum Family Size of 6 adults and their children. Non-residential use is not allowed. All VR and STR have a Transaction Privilege Sales Tax ad a Transient Tax liability. All units must be registered with Maricopa County.

There's currently a debate over the ability to enforce laws regulating how many people can stay in a single rental. There is a law in place with calling for a maximum of 6 adults per unit, but there has never been a citation for this as it is nearly impossible to know for certain how many people are staying in one unit. Bills are being introduced to try and combat this, which in turn would put more of a strain on the vacation rental market's ability to flourish.
